GenieACS / TR-069 Carrier-Grade Fleet Device Auto-Configuration
Auto-Configuration Server orchestrating zero-touch provisioning, firmware upgrades, and live telemetry across thousands of CPE routers and GPON ONUs.
1. Executive Summary & CPE Fleet Scale
Managing thousands of distributed Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) routers, optical GPON ONUs, and wireless access points across hotel properties and subscriber sites requires carrier-grade zero-touch automation. Physical technician visits for simple configuration adjustments or firmware updates are cost-prohibitive.
2. CWMP TR-069 Protocol Orchestration
Built and deployed a resilient Auto-Configuration Server (ACS) platform utilizing the Broadband Forum TR-069 (CWMP) protocol:
- Zero-Touch Provisioning (ZTP): When an unconfigured router powers on and contacts the ACS, the device serial and vendor OUI match preset rules to automatically push WAN VLAN tags, PPPoE credentials, Wi-Fi SSIDs, and firewall rules in seconds.
- Live Telemetry & Optical Diagnostics: Real-time querying of GPON RX/TX optical power levels, device uptime, memory utilization, and Wi-Fi interference metrics to detect fiber degradation before client outages occur.
- Staged Firmware Deployment: Automated batch firmware upgrades rolled out in scheduled maintenance windows with automated fallback if reboot health checks fail.
3. Production Infrastructure & High Availability
Implemented on Debian Linux with Node.js microservices and MongoDB storage, reverse-proxied through Nginx with SSL client certificate authentication, effortlessly servicing continuous CWMP periodic inform packets.
